Lions
Lions are big cats. Most live in large groups called prides. These animals are fierce. They are nicknamed “King of the Jungle.”
Lions have gold or brownish fur. An adult male lion has a mane. They weigh approximately 440 pounds (200 kilograms).
Lions live in Africa and India. You can find them in the grassy plains and open savannas. Each pride has its own territory.
Lions are meat eaters. They eat animals such as antelope, zebras, and water buffalo. Female lions do most of the hunting. They usually hunt in groups.
Female lions have one to six babies at a time. Baby lions are called cubs. In the wild, lions live 10 to 15 years.
